Das Projekt Professionalisierung der Open-Access-Repositorien-Infrastruktur in Deutschland (Pro OAR DE) widmet sich der Professionalisierung der Open-Access-Repositorien (OAR) in Deutschland in einem offenen und kooperativen Ansatz.
Hierzu werden aktuelle Problemlagen beim Betrieb von OAR behandelt (z. B. der Umgang mit Preprints oder die Sicherstellung der Compliance zu OA-Förderbedingungen). Diese Problemlagen werden in einer Erhebung identifiziert und untersucht. Auf Basis der erzielten Ergebnisse werden die aktuellen Herausforderungen beim Betrieb der OAR dann in Vernetzungsforen mit der Community der Open-Access-Professionals adressiert. Hierbei kooperiert das Projekt mit relevanten Projekten und Netzwerken und greift internationale Entwicklungen auf. Das Projekt unterstützt so die Entwicklung von Best Practices im Bereich der Informationsinfrastrukturen auf nationaler Ebene und fördert die Vernetzung der Open-Access-Professionals. Als Ergebnis entstehen so praxisorientierte Empfehlungen als Impuls zur Weiterentwicklung einer wissenschaftsgeleiteten Open-Access-Kultur. Diese Empfehlungen unterstützen wissenschaftliche Einrichtungen in Deutschland bei der Professionalisierung ihrer OAR. Für die Leitungsebene an Hochschulen und außeruniversitären Einrichtungen sowie Entscheider:innen in Förderorganisationen und Stakeholder der Wissenschaftspolitik werden darüber hinaus strategische Empfehlungen erarbeitet, die auf Basis von nationalen und internationalen Entwicklungen die zentrale Rolle der OAR bei der Förderung von Open Access adressieren. Auch leistet das Vorhaben einen Beitrag zur Förderung der Sichtbarkeit von Open-Access-Publikationen in globalen Suchdiensten und schließt Lücken in der Erforschung von Open-Access-Infrastrukturen zur Verbesserung der Anerkennung von Open Access.

Professionalization of the Open Access Repositories Infrastructure in Germany
The Pro OAR DE project is dedicated to advancing the professionalism of Open Access Repositories (OAR) in Germany through an open and collaborative approach. The project addresses current challenges in operating OAR, such as managing preprints and ensuring compliance with Open Access funding conditions. These issues are identified and examined through surveys. The findings are then discussed in networking forums with the Open Access professional community.
The project collaborates with relevant projects and networks, and it takes international developments into account. It supports the development of best practices in information infrastructure at a national level and promotes the networking of Open Access professionals. As a result, practical recommendations are developed to further a scholar-led Open Access culture, aiding scientific institutions in Germany in professionalizing their OAR.
Strategic recommendations are also developed for leadership at universities and non-university institutions, as well as decision-makers in funding organizations and stakeholders in science policy. These recommendations highlight the central role of OAR in promoting Open Access, based on national and international developments. Additionally, the project contributes to increasing the visibility of Open Access publications in global search services and addresses gaps in the research of Open Access infrastructures to enhance the recognition of Open Access.
