Book Idea
Since 2002 the Berlin School of Library and Information Science offers a project seminar entitled "Von der Idee zum Buch - Durchführung eines Publikationsprojektes einschließlich DTP" (How the idea becomes a book - Realization of a publication project including DTP) to their students and edition philology students from "Freie Universität Berlin".
Within this seminar, students get to know all aspects of project management, that is necessary for a publication. This includes:
- find a topic
- collect the articles
- personal contact to the authors
- professional layout
- structure of a publication
- publication types
- financing
- editing the articles until they are ready for printing
- copyright questions
- advertising and public relations
The aim of the seminar is to publish an anthology about an LIS-related topicin in print or digitally as CD-rom or via the internet. The seminar includes all necessary aspects of project management. The articles for the collection are written by qualified authors.
The current project seminar took place in winter semester 2010/2011.
