Professor and research department 'Digital Libraries'

Prof. Michael Seadle, PhD

The Digital Library group associated with Michael Seadle’s professorship (“Lehrstuhl”) addresses a broad range of issues involving digital resources of all forms and types. We define digital libraries broadly to include all structured and intentional collections of digital data, including electronic books, journals, numeric data sets, and multimedia. These collections come in many forms including specialized collections of retro-digitized works, repositories, databases, wikis, blogs, or a variety of other Internet-based resources.

Research in this group emphasizes several topics:

  • Scientific misconduct
  • Human-Computer-Interaction / Use Studies
  • Long Term Digital Archiving
  • Copyright behavior (not law)

Members of the group use research methods from cultural anthropology, applied computer science, and statistics. The group puts a strong emphasis on the collection and analysis of data about digital library materials and uses.
