Merger provides boost to information science

On 1 April, the Royal School of Library and Information Science (IVA) became a department of the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Humanities.


The vision is to build strong new foundations for information science in both education and research, and to continue to meet the needs of libraries, i.e. the traditional employers for IVA graduates. Merger with the University does just that. "Our library study programmes and research will have a much broader humanities basis, which will help rejuvenate and develop the library sector. We will combine high academic standards in library science with the University's strength across the whole gamut of the humanities disciplines, creating a whole new humanities-based type of information science in the process," says IVA Rector Per Hasle. ...
