Information Behavior

Prof. Dr. Elke Greifeneder

The research and teaching group Information Behavior was established in 2015 under the chair of Prof. Dr. Elke Greifeneder. The research field deals with the interaction between human beings and information technology, which includes both active and passive behavior. Amongst other things, the different areas of Information Behavior study the patterns in human search for information, their processing of information as well as personal information management. It is the only professorship with an exclusive focus on Information Behavior in Germany and therefore aims to represent the entirety of research branches within the field in its activities.

The teaching of the research group focusses on imparting knowledge about models and theories of Information Behavior to the students. This theoretical framework is supplemented by practical units on methods in user studies.
